School Policies and Procedures

LFCSA has developed specific guidelines to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff, while maintaining a welcoming environment free of distractions from learning. Below you’ll find some of the key policies and procedures that we ask our families to follow.

Title IX, Title VI. Title II/504
Title IX (sex), Title VI (race, color, national origin), and Title II/504 (disability) are a critical federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex (including sexual harassment), race, color, national origin and disability in our schools. It protects male and female students and employees in any educational entity that receives federal funds. In addition, Title IX, VI and II/504 transgender students, and students who do not conform to sex stereotypes. State law also prohibits discrimination based on gender (sex), gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Complaint Process: Students or parents/guardians should report their verbal or written Title IX complaint to the school administrator or Title IX/Bullying Complaint Manager within six months from the date the alleged incident occurred or first obtained knowledge. Complainants have a right to a timely and informal resolution at the school site.

If the complainant is dissatisfied with the school-site or Local District decision, the complainant may file a written Uniform Complaint Policy(UCP) complaint directly with the Educational Equity Compliance Office. This will begin the investigation process which must be completed within 60 days.  An appeal of the Educational Equity Compliance Office’s findings may be made to the California Department of Education – Office of Equal Opportunity.

LFCSA is proactive to have grievance procedures that provide prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints alleging any action, which would be prohibited by Title IX, or Section 504.

Please help keep our children safe and make things run smoothly by adhering to the student Drop Off and Pick Up rules.



The procedures below help us ensure maximum focus and attention to learning by keeping interruptions to a minimum. Those persons wanting to meet with a staff member or visit a classroom must make arrangements for the visit in advance. Please do not drop-in unexpectedly. Pre-arranged classroom visits should be kept to 30 minutes.

All parents and guests must sign in and out at the office. Upon signing in, parents will be given a Visitors Pass to wear while on the campus. This procedure is a State Law which helps us ensure the safety of each child.



Parents will be asked to complete a Parent/Guardian permission form for every field trip their children participate in. A note informing you about each trip will be provided. The teacher will take the students’ emergency card on each trip as well as any medication or inhaler.



Children may only attend school if all inoculations are documented. Please see Immunization requirements:

Families with incoming siblings must complete a Public Random Drawing application form, and submit their child’s name into the lottery. Siblings are the highest preference level, and will be assigned prior to other preferences.



The school office is open between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on school days.



No child is permitted to leave LFCSA campus at any time during the school day unless they have permission from the office and are accompanied by an adult. Children will only be released to parents and/or designated caretaker unless the office is notified otherwise.



Permission will be granted to go home with another parent or caretaker provided the office has received a signed and dated note from both parties.



Clothes should never detract from the learning process with unacceptable logos or messages. Sensible, comfortable play clothing is suitable for school. Children should not be afraid to get their clothes dirty. Shoes must be safe for play equipment or running. Closed toe shoes are required. If a very short skirt or dress is worn to school, shorts should be worn underneath. Under garments should never be viewed by the general public. All kindergarten and first grade children should bring a complete change of clothes labeled with their name and a zip lock bag in case of accidents.



Children may not bring toys, electronic devices, or other personal items. All personal belongings such as clothing, backpacks and lunchbags should be clearly labeled with child’s name.



For lost and found items, check with the office. Unmarked articles will be donated at the end of each month



If parents wish to report an incident, forms are available in the office.



At LFCSA, we view every day as an essential learning opportunity. Therefore, we expect excellent attendance of all of our students. Student attendance becomes a pattern and missing school regularly is not only detrimental to a child’s learning, but can create poor learning habits. A child is considered absent when he/she is not in school. When a child has a fever or symptoms of illness or has a communicable illness, it is best for the child to stay at home to rest and recover. Parents must communicate with their children’s teacher to inform them about the reason for their absence.



A student is considered tardy if he or she is late to school. A student must report to the office if he or she is late for school in order to be admitted to the classroom. If a student is late, drivers must park and accompany the child to the office.

Tardiness is excused only if a student has a medical, dental, legal appointment, death in the family or a legitimate family emergency. All excused tardies require appropriate documentation. Traffic congestion will not be considered a valid excuse. Plan for extra time if you are driving.

  • 5 tardies will receive a phone call from the classroom teacher.
  • 8 tardies an official letter is sent home and letter will go in cumulative file.
  • 10 tardies a conference will be held with teacher, principal and parent.



Excused absences are absences in which a student is too ill to report to school or has a medical, legal, dental appointment or a death in the family. All absences require appropriate documentation, i.e. note from home, a note from a doctor or medical facility, court documents, etc. If appropriate documentation is not provided, the absence will be considered unexcused.

A parent or adult caregiver must notify the school the same day of absence by telephone, letter, fax, e mail, or in person. Do your best to inform us of an absence by 8:30 a.m.

If a child exceeds five excused absences, the school will require a conference between parent, student, and administration to devise an action plan for ensuring the child does not fall behind in school.

If your child has a communicable disease, the school office should be informed so that we can notify other parents.
